Twelve newton meters is more than most people use
Drivers on 20 Nm bases rarely run anywhere near full output, because the detail lives in the small forces rather than the big ones. At 12 Nm you still feel the front axle load up in a GT car and the rear step out under power, and you can mount the base to a solid desk or a light wheel stand instead of building a rig around it.
23-bit optical encoder
Optical, not magnetic. At the same nominal resolution, an optical encoder reads position more accurately and holds that accuracy over years of use. Small corrections register exactly as you make them, and the base does not develop a vague center over time.
A motor built for sim racing
A dual skewed-pole design on both the stator and the rotor holds cogging torque under 2.3 percent, so the wheel turns smoothly with no notchiness through slow corners. Torque slew rate reaches 9.5 Nm/ms, which is what lets a kerb strike or a tire letting go arrive as a sharp event rather than a soft one. CONSPIT validated the output with a dynamic torque sensor between the wheel and the motor shaft, resolving below 0.01 Nm, so the rating describes what actually reaches your hands.
Choose a CDR or CDP quick release
Pick the quick release that matches the wheels you already own. CDR is CONSPIT's newer auto-locking system, built to the dimensions most of the sim racing industry has settled on, so it mates with a wide range of third-party wheels (extra wheel sides: CONSPIT CDR quick release). CDP is the three-bolt 50 mm PCD pogo-pin block, with a 50 to 70 mm adapter available. Motor, encoder, housing and torque are identical either way.
Compact and cool
The 5.6 kg aluminum housing uses real-time temperature monitoring to hold torque through a long stint instead of fading in the last ten laps. Mounting points are M6 x 4 on the bottom and M8 x 4 on the sides. Magnetic POGO contacts on the front face take add-on modules such as the CSD Nano dashboard, and the optional CES external emergency stop cuts the motor instantly, which matters for coaching, sim racing centers and supervised young drivers.
