VPS Xbox Starter: a complete turnkey racing simulator for Xbox Series X|S
An aluminium-profile cockpit, a real GT bucket seat and an officially licensed MOZA direct-drive wheel — the whole thing plugs into your Xbox and your TV. No gaming PC, no adapters, nothing else to buy.
Almost every Xbox racer starts the same way: a wheel clamped to a desk, a dining chair, and a nagging feeling that the car is not really talking to them. It usually is not — the desk flexes under braking, the chair moves, and half of what the wheel is trying to tell you disappears into the furniture. The VPS Xbox Starter is the fix, and it is the least expensive way we know to put a console racer into something that behaves like a car. We build it in Daytona Beach from the same Sim-Lab cockpits and seats we use in rigs costing ten times as much, around MOZA’s Xbox-licensed R3 direct-drive bundle.
Officially licensed for Xbox — why that matters
Xbox consoles only accept steering wheels that carry official Xbox licensing. Plenty of excellent PC wheels simply will not work on an Xbox, and no dongle fixes it. The MOZA R3 bundle in this package is MOZA’s Xbox-licensed hardware: the R3 direct-drive base and the ES Xbox steering wheel are recognised by Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and Xbox One the moment you plug them in, and by a Windows PC over USB if you add one later. You get a genuine direct-drive motor — 3.9 Nm, 15-bit encoder, aviation-grade aluminium housing — on a console, which until recently was not something you could buy at any price.
Why racers choose the VPS Xbox Starter
- A cockpit, not a wheel stand. Xbox racers almost always start with a wheel clamped to a desk. The moment you brake hard the desk flexes, the wheel moves and the force feedback turns to mush. The GT1 EVO is bolted aluminium profile — it does not move, so everything the R3 sends you actually reaches your hands.
- Officially licensed for Xbox. Xbox only talks to licensed wheels. The MOZA R3 bundle is MOZA’s Xbox-licensed hardware, so it plugs into an Xbox Series X, Series S or Xbox One and works — no adapter, no workaround, no PC.
- Direct drive at a console price. 3.9 Nm of direct-drive torque with a 15-bit encoder. It is the smallest base we sell and it still puts more detail through the rim than any gear-driven console wheel.
- A real bucket seat. A GRP-shell GT seat on aluminium brackets, at a fixed driving position. It is the single biggest difference between a gaming chair and something that feels like a car.
- Three pedals, not two. The R3 bundle ships as a two-pedal set. We add the clutch so the rig is complete out of the box.
- It grows. Every part of this rig is standard Sim-Lab profile and standard MOZA mounting. Add a monitor mount, a bigger wheelbase, load-cell pedals or a PC later without replacing the cockpit.
What’s in the package
Everything below ships as one matched package: cockpit, seat, seat brackets, the Xbox-licensed direct-drive wheelbase, steering wheel, three pedals, and every bolt, bracket and cable tie needed to put it together. The only things you supply are your Xbox and the screen you already own.
Cockpit & seat
- Sim-Lab GT1 EVO sim racing cockpit — rigid aluminium-profile frame with a solid pedal plate and wheel deck — the rig that makes a direct-drive wheel feel like a direct-drive wheel
- Sim-Lab S1 Sport GT bucket seat (black) — GRP-shell GT bucket with real lateral support, not a reclining office chair
- Sim-Lab bucket seat bracket set — 4 mm aluminium brackets that bolt the seat to the profile
Wheelbase, wheel & pedals — officially licensed for Xbox
- MOZA R3 direct-drive wheelbase — 3.9 Nm — MOZA’s Xbox-licensed direct drive: a real servo motor with a 15-bit encoder, not the gears and belts in a console starter wheel
- MOZA ES Xbox steering wheel (280 mm) — officially licensed for Xbox, aluminium face plate, 22 buttons, RGB RPM lights, MOZA quick release — included in the R3 bundle
- MOZA SR-P Lite pedals — throttle and brake, included in the R3 bundle
- MOZA SR-P Lite clutch pedal — the third pedal, added by us so you are not stuck with a two-pedal console set
Mounting & cabling
- Wheelbase and pedal mounting hardware, cable management and console cable routing — bolts, T-nuts, brackets and ties, labelled and bagged by step
What you can race on it
The Xbox racing catalogue is deeper than most people think: Forza Motorsport and Forza Horizon 5, the F1 series, Assetto Corsa Competizione, EA Sports WRC, NASCAR and the rest of the wheel-enabled titles all support the R3 on console. Two honest notes: iRacing, Assetto Corsa EVO and Le Mans Ultimate are PC-only games, and no console wheel changes that. If those are why you are shopping, this cockpit still makes sense — add a racing PC to it later and the rig does not change.
Your upgrade path
This is a starter package, not a dead end. The GT1 EVO is standard Sim-Lab aluminium profile, so the obvious next steps all bolt straight on: a Sim-Lab monitor mount if you want a screen on the rig instead of across the room, a bigger MOZA wheelbase such as the R12 or R21 Ultra, load-cell pedals, a shifter, tactile haptics, or a VPS racing PC that opens up iRacing. When you are ready for triple screens or motion, the rest of the ladder is in our turnkey collection — and we will take this rig in on trade.
Build & Delivery: two ways to take delivery of your VPS Xbox Starter
Both prices are in the Build & Delivery selector above. The hardware is identical either way, and 45 days of full support is included with both.
Ship in Boxes — $1,795
The complete package ships to you in component boxes — the cockpit and seat ship freight — with every bracket, bolt and cable needed to put it together, plus our assembly notes. A first build takes an evening with basic hand tools, and our support team is a call away while you do it. Freight is quoted separately for your address.
Professional Build + Crated Freight + Remote Setup — +$1,495
Our Daytona Beach shop assembles the cockpit, mounts and aligns the seat, bolts and wires the wheelbase and pedals, cable-manages the whole rig and tests it on an actual Xbox before it leaves. We then crate it, ship it to your door with freight included, and schedule a remote session to set your force-feedback and pedal settings and walk you through the system. You place it, plug in the labelled cables and drive.
How these prices are set: the build charge reflects the shop hours this specific rig takes; the rest is the crate and freight for a built, assembled cockpit. Full white-glove delivery — two VPS technicians bringing it to you and installing it — is available on this package by request and quoted for your address: call or text (954) 296-6197, email sales@velocityprosims.com or request a quote.
Support
Every turnkey package includes 45 days of full support from Velocity Pro Sims from the day of purchase — assembly questions, wheel and pedal settings, console setup and tuning. After that, service is available at $120 per hour. We are a real shop with a real phone number, not a marketplace listing.
Shipping on the Ship-in-Boxes choice is quoted separately
If you choose Ship in Boxes, freight is not included in the price and is not calculated at checkout. It depends on your address, access and whether you want curbside or in-home placement, so we quote it separately and invoice it once your order is placed — call or text (954) 296-6197 for an estimate before you order. The Professional Build choice includes crated freight to your door.
Perfect for
- Xbox Series X, Series S and Xbox One drivers who have outgrown a desk-clamped wheel
- Forza Motorsport, Forza Horizon and F1 players who want the car to actually talk to them
- First real simulator for a household that already has a console and a TV
- A birthday or holiday gift that does not need a gaming PC to be useful
- Anyone who wants a cockpit they can keep and upgrade instead of replacing in a year
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a gaming PC for this?
No. That is the point of this package. The MOZA R3 bundle is officially licensed for Xbox, so it connects straight to an Xbox Series X, Series S or Xbox One and to your TV. There is no PC in this simulator and none is needed.
Which Xbox consoles does it work with?
Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and Xbox One. The same rig also works on a Windows PC over USB if you add one later.
Does it work on PlayStation?
No. The R3’s licensing covers Xbox and PC. If you race on PlayStation, call us and we will spec the same cockpit and seat around a PlayStation-licensed wheelbase instead.
What games can I play on it?
The Xbox racing catalogue: Forza Motorsport, Forza Horizon 5, the F1 series, Assetto Corsa Competizione, EA Sports WRC, NASCAR and the other wheel-enabled titles. iRacing, Assetto Corsa EVO and Le Mans Ultimate are PC-only games — if those are the reason you are shopping, add a racing PC to this rig later or start with one of our PC packages.
Is there a screen included?
No, and that keeps the price where it is. On Xbox you already have a TV, and the console runs to it over HDMI exactly as it does now. If you would rather mount a monitor to the cockpit, we sell the Sim-Lab GT1 monitor mount separately — just ask and we will add it to your order.
Does the third pedal work on Xbox?
The clutch is wired into the SR-P Lite set and is recognised by the wheelbase. Whether a given game uses a clutch is up to the game — most Xbox racing titles are automatic or paddle-shift only, and the clutch comes into its own when you add a PC or a shifter later. It is included either way so the pedal set is complete.
How much room does it take?
About 4 feet wide by 5 feet long with room to get in and out, and the seat position adjusts on the profile. It is lighter and shorter than our triple-screen rigs, which is why it fits in a bedroom or an apartment.
Can I upgrade it later?
Yes, and that is why we build starter rigs on Sim-Lab profile. The cockpit takes a bigger MOZA wheelbase, load-cell pedals, a monitor mount, a shifter, tactile haptics and a racing PC, one part at a time. Nothing you buy today gets thrown away.
Can Velocity Pro Sims build it for me?
Yes — choose Professional Build in the Build & Delivery selector. We assemble, wire, cable-manage and test the complete rig in Daytona Beach, crate it, ship it to your door with freight included and then finish the setup with you over a remote session. Full white-glove delivery, where two technicians bring it to you and install it, is available on this package by request — call us for a quote.
Can I try it before I buy?
Yes. Our showroom at 933 Beville Rd, Suite 102E in Daytona Beach — ten minutes from Daytona International Speedway — has walk-in seat time with no appointment and no charge, Wednesday through Sunday.
What does shipping cost?
If you choose Ship in Boxes, freight is quoted separately based on your address and access and is not charged at checkout — call or text (954) 296-6197 for an estimate before you order. The Professional Build choice includes crated freight to your door.
How long until it ships?
Ship in Boxes: the cockpit and seat ship freight from our supplier and the MOZA hardware ships separately, typically within a few business days of the order. Professional Build orders are scheduled with you when we confirm the order.
Note: Ship in Boxes orders ship in multiple boxes; the cockpit and seat ship freight and the MOZA hardware ships separately. Professional Build orders are scheduled with you at confirmation.
